The Master’s Degree in Health Education provides advanced study for individuals employed or planning to seek employment as health educators in academic, clinical, community, and corporate environments. Programs normally require about 36 semester credit hours. Students learn how to design, implement, and evaluate healthcare interventions promoting healthy behaviors and lifestyles. Programs offer instruction in health behavior change theory and practice; program planning; marketing, health communications, and program evaluation; and research techniques. Qualifications to enter programs include a minimum GPA, bachelor’s degree, and completion of the GRE exam. Graduates work at non-profit community health agencies, university student health centers, state and local health departments, governmental agencies, faith-based settings, health care systems, and managed care facilities.
